PIVOT is a multimodal smarthome interaction experience. With one universal pointing gesture and a single spoken word, users can intuitively interact with all smart home devices.

TV is used to communicate between appliances, no sensor is needed

3D Scanning
System analyses home environment with a RGB-D camera on TV
Individual smarthome product is identified and located with 3D bounding box in point cloud.
With depth data from the RGB-D camera, they are located with absolute position to support precise pointing from all angles.
With additional aid from AI object recognition, the exact product model could be identify with PIVOT.
Wrist point and index finger tip point was designed to project a straight line towards the product.
Both pose and hand relative position are used for more accurate results.
Objects are localised with pointing gesture. Combined with AI speech recognition. PIVOT smarthome interaction is realised.
